COMMISSIONS

Starting your bespoke art project

Commissioning an artist is a simple and personable way to get the custom artwork you’ve been dreaming of. There’s something truly special about creating a piece that will become a cherished part of someone’s home. I strive to make the commission process enjoyable and creative, ensuring we both have fun throughout every step.

You might have come across a painting, body cast, or sculpture on my website that caught your eye, but it’s already sold, or perhaps you’d prefer something similar in a different size, or with variations in colour or texture. You may also want to combine elements from different artworks to create something unique.

Alternatively, you might want to develop an entire collection of art inspired by a piece you admire or centred around a specific theme.

Here’s how we’ll collaborate to bring your artistic vision to life.

STEP ONE
No obligation consultation

Please email me with a short description of what you’re looking for. Be sure to mention the names of any paintings or artworks that caught your eye, along with the approximate size you’re interested in.

This will be followed by a telephone consultation to discuss the following;

  • A deeper dive into what you’re envisioning and the mood or energy you’d like the artwork to convey.
  • Your preferred base material i.e. canvas, wood, plaster.
  • Colour, texture, size, theme, postage/collection
  • Your budget?  If your budget is limited, please let me know. I can give you alternative ideas about how we can decrease your cost
  • The estimated completion time for your artwork.

Where possible, we will meet at my studio so that you can view samples and get a better sense of what you are looking for. If an in-person meeting isn’t feasible, I will ask you for photos of the space where the artwork will be displayed, and we can go over everything via video call.

STEP TWO
Quotation and Confirmation

Once we finalize all the details, I will send you a quotation and wait for your written confirmation to proceed. A 50% deposit of the project fee will be required upfront before I purchase materials. Please note that deposits are non-refundable.

STEP THREE
The Process

I’ll keep you updated on the progress of your painting/artwork. As we approach the final stages, I’ll send you some images so we can discuss any minor adjustments you’d like to make.

STEP FOUR
Final Sign-off

I will send you photos of your completed artwork. Where possible it is recommended that you visit the studio again to see your piece of art in person, as photos cannot reflect true colour shades and texture. Once I receive your final approval, I will complete your artwork.

Please note – For resin artworks, we will need to allow a further 14- 28 days curing time before the item can be packaged and sent to you.

All artworks are fitted with hanging hardware and ready to be displayed upon arrival. For artwork weighing over 12kg, professional hanging is recommended.

The remaining balance will need to be settled before your item is shipped. Your artwork will be signed with my first name, ‘Kika,’ either on the front, side, back, or inside, depending on the type of art. You will receive a ‘Certificate of Authenticity’ along with your artwork.

STEP FIVE
Delivery

Once your painting is securely packaged and shipped via courier, I’ll provide you with the tracking information so you can start planning its welcome home celebration! If you’d prefer to pick up your painting, that can be arranged. Additionally, if you’re local, I may be able to deliver it to you personally.

I hope you found this information helpful. If you have any additional questions about my art commission process, please feel free to email me. I look forward to collaborating with you on your unique artwork!
