COMMISSIONS

Starting your bespoke art project

Commissioning an artist is the easiest and most friendly way of getting the bespoke artwork you are looking for.  It’s so lovely to make something special for someone, knowing that it will be a loved aspect of their home. I’ll do my best to make sure the commission process is a fun and  creative experience that we can both enjoy every step of the way.

You may have seen a painting, body cast or sculpture on my website that you like however; it has been sold or you would like something similar in a different size or with a variation in colour or texture. You may like various sections of numerous artworks that you would like to bring together. Alternatively you may want to create an entire collection of art, based on one that you like or a particular theme.

Here’s how we will work together to make your art dream come true.

STEP ONE
No obligation consultation

Please email me with a brief description of what you are looking for. Please include the names of any paintings or artworks you liked and the approximate size of the art you are interested in.  Please include your contact telephone number.

I will call you to discuss the following:

  • More in depth details about what you are looking for and what kind of feeling or energy you want to bring into your artwork
  • Your base choice, whether this is canvas, wood or plaster.
  • Colour, texture, size, theme, postage/collection
  • Your budget?  If your budget is tight please let me know. I can give you alternative ideas about how we can decrease your costs
  • When you can expect your painting to be ready

Where possible, we will meet at my studio so that you can see some art samples and get a real feel of what you are looking for. If this is not possible, I will ask you for photos of the space you would like the art for and we can use video call to discuss the above.

STEP TWO
Quotation and Confirmation

When we have agreed all the finer details, I will provide you with a quotation and await your written confirmation. I will require a 50% deposit of the project fee up front before  I purchase your materials. Deposits are  non-refundable.

STEP THREE
The Process

I will keep you informed as to the progress of your painting / artwork. Towards the final stages, I will share some images with you, and we can discuss any minor amendments you might like to make.

STEP FOUR
Final Sign-off

I will send you photos of your completed artwork. Where possible it is recommended that you visit the studio again to see your piece of art in person, as photos cannot reflect true colour shades and texture. Following your final sign off confirmation, I will add finalise your art.

(a) For paintings and plaster castings –  two coats of protective varnish will be applied to protect against weather and dust.

We will need to allow a further 4–7 days drying time. (Drying time will depend on the texture and depth of your painting).

.

(b) – For resin artworks – we will need to allow a further  3 – 7 days curing time. ( The Curing period will depend on the number of layers applied)

All resin artworks will require 7 days to fully cure following the final coat of resin.

.

All artworks are fitted with hanging hardware and ready for you to hang on arrival.

Items over 12kg will need to be professionally hung.

The remaining balance will be required before your item is posted to you. Your artwork will be signed either at the front, side, back or inside ( depending on  type of art)  with my first name ‘Kika’ and where possible signed, titled and dated at the back. You will receive a ‘Certificate of Authenticity’ with your Artwork.

STEP FIVE
Delivery

Once your painting has been carefully packaged and posted via courier, I’ll send your tracking information so you can start planning its welcome home party!  If you would like to collect your painting, this can be arranged.  Alternatively and where possible, if you live locally, I may deliver the painting to you personally.

I hope this has been helpful. If you have any further queries about my art commission process please email me. I look forward to creating your unique artwork with you.
